This is a joint academic workshop with the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP), PRIO, and the Department of Political Science, University of the Basque Country (Universidad del Pais Vasco, UPV; Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, EHU), organized by the PRIO project Imagined Sovereignties: Frontiers of Statehood and Globalization.

Through an investigation and comparison of three empirical cases; Northeast India, Cyprus and the Basque country, the research project explores the changing conditions and spaces for exercising and demanding sovereignty in the contemporary world, and how sovereignty is imagined under these conditions.

Participation in the workshop is by invitation only, but a public event will organized on Friday 30 May, titled Imagining Basque Sovereignty: Voices From Civil Society (follow the link for more information).
