“For this year’s Annual Report and my first introduction as Director of PRIO, I take cue from the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the 16th Sustainable Development Goal. I won’t venture to weigh the goals against each other – they are all too important for that. From where I sit, however, and with a certain measure of empirical support, I find the promotion of just, peaceful and inclusive societies to be fundamental to reaching all the other goals. Countries ridden by conflict perform worse than others on virtually all indicators of human development. Thus, PRIO’s ongoing mission to provide knowledge for a more peaceful world is as urgent and relevant as ever.” – PRIO Director Henrik Urdal
