The Oslo-based Research School on Peace and Conflict has signed a collaboration agreement with the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University. The agreement provides for three kinds of activities: jointly designed courses, reciprocal course offerings, and research collaboration. The agreement is now in effect and allows doctoral students at Uppsala University to apply for membership in the Research School on Peace and Conflict.
Both institutions represent major research environments in peace and conflict studies. Uppsala's Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971. Its work is clustered around research on the causes and dynamics of conflict, peace processes and sustainable peace. The Research School on Peace and Conflict(now in its fourth year) brings together professors from Norway (chiefly the University of Oslo, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and the Peace Research Institute Oslo) and abroad to provide cutting-edge doctoral training for the next generation of peace and conflict scholars.
By entering into this agreement these two research milieus will enhance their existing ties for the benefit of doctoral students.
