In Northeast India, women have a long history of engagement in peacebuilding and mediation, and have mobilized effectively for community survival and mitigation of violence. As stakeholders in conflict, women have also played a significant role as supporters of armed groups, and, in some cases, armed fighters. The research presented in this volume highlights Northeast Indian women’s political agency and activism, for political change as well as conflict resolution.
