Prospective Thesis Topic: Gender, Peace and Security (generic)

Research focusing on gender is integrated in most of PRIO’s thematic areas and departments. Research is supported by the Gender Research Group and the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security which was established in 2015 and serves as a resource hub for gender, peace and security research. The Centre’s main activities include research, publishing, teaching and training. The Centre also provides policy advice through policy-oriented research.

Key focus areas on gender at PRIO include: sexual and gender-based violence; the Women, Peace and Security agenda/UN Security Council Resolution 1325; masculinity and women’s empowerment in relation to risk of political violence and in resolution processes, gender and peace mediation and negotiations; gender and migration; gender and peacebuilding; and women in diplomacy. MA thesis falling under the thematic area of ‘gender and mediation’ are particularly welcome, as are cases geographically focusing on Afghanistan, Colombia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Palestine and South Sudan and statistical or comparative studies.
