The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar with the Finnish journalist and author Anna-Lena Laurén.

“Ethnic tensions, corrupt clan wars and Islamic extremism are blending together in an explosive complex instability that engulfs the North Caucasus and aggravates the unresolved conflict between Russia and Georgia. Moscow invests too little effort in addressing these interwoven problems but seeks to isolate them from Western attention.”
Dr Pavel K. Baev, PRIO

The Finnish journalist and author Anna-Lena Lauren has traveled extensively in the Caucasus and reflected on her impressions in the recently published book "I bergen finns inga herrar – Om Kaukasien och dess folk” [There are no masters in the mountains – about the Caucasus and its people].

The seminar has a starting point in the problems portrayed in Laurén’s book, and will continue the discussion on the situation in the Caucasus in the following panel debate.
