Based on her doctoral research on remittances in the transnational social field connecting Norway and Pakistan, Marta Bivand Erdal will present a paper on migrants’ houses in Pakistan. The paper discusses the reasons why these houses are built and how they are deeply embedded in the transnational reality in which migrants live their daily lives. As such they become material manifestations of migrants’ transnational practices, which are explained in particular local contexts in Pakistan and in Norway.
