Yann-huei Song is currently a research fellow in the Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. He is also an adjunct professor in the College of Law, Soochow University in Taiwan.

He received B.L. from National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan; M.S. in Political Science from Indiana State University, Indiana, USA; Ph.D. in International Relations from Kent State University, Ohio, USA; L.L.M. and J.S.D. from the School of Law (Boalt Hall), University of California, Berkeley, the United States.

Yann-huei Song taught at the Department of Political Science, Indiana State University between 1988 and 1990 as an assistant professor and at the Institute of the Law of the Sea, National Taiwan Ocean University as an associate professor between 1990 and 1993. He was appointed as an associate research fellow at Academia Sinica in 1993 and promoted to a research fellow in 1999.

Yann-huei Song is a member of the editorial boards of Ocean Development and International Law and Chinese (Taiwan) Yearbook of International Law and Affairs. He was appointed PRIO Global Fellow in 2017.
