PRIO research assistant Mathias Hatleskog Tjønn has been awarded the HIFOs Fritt Ord-scholarship for his MA thesis titled: The Persistence of Colonialism. A Century of Italo-Libyan Relationships and Their Influence on the Current European Migration Regime in the Mediterranean (1911–2017). The Norwegian Historical Association awards the scholarship to former MA students in history who graduated the preceding year to encourage the publication of their thesis as an article or a monograph.

Mathias reacted to the award saying, “I am both honoured and humbled to be this year’s recipient, and aim to put the scholarship to good use through turning my thesis into a series of articles”.

Congratulations from all at PRIO!
