PRIO Directors have made it a tradition to offer their personal shortlists for the Peace Prize.

Current PRIO Director Henrik Urdal presents his sixth list since taking up the position of Director in 2017. This year, he highlights the importance of nonviolent pro-democracy mass mobilizations and protest movements in overturning despotic regimes. Specifically, he points to the Belarusian opposition politician Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who has played a leading role in nonviolently challenging Lukashenko and the Belarusian authorities.
