On the occasion of the visit to Oslo by the Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, a closed roundtable discussion on the Middle East was hosted by PRIO, in association with the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) at the Doha Institute.
Rahmat Hashemi is a doctoral researcher. His project, No Peace in Sight? The United States and the Complex Case of Afghanistan, 1978-2020, is a historical account of the Geneva Talks on Afghanistan from 1982-1989, and the Doha Talks on Afghanistan from 2011 to 2020. The project focuses on the role of the United States in these two peace processes. Rahmat is affiliated with the University of Oslo, Department of Archeology, Conservation, and History.
