Jan 1999 – Jun 2000
This cooperative project between the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and PRIO has focused on the organization of a series of lectures on the following themes: gender and international relations theory, gender and national/ethnic identity, gender and militarism, the gender dimension of development/humanitarian assistance, sexual violence and women as peacekeepers. The main goal has been to invite national and/or international academics in the various fields and thereby stimulate discussion within Norwegian academia about the gender dimension of conflict studies. Additional output will be in the form of an edited volume based on the six lectures. The lectures took place at PRIO in spring 1999 and at NUPI in autumn 1999.
