Description
How do societal inequalities and biases travel to technology, and how does the latter impact the former? As data-based technology increasingly permeates different aspects of our social and political life, the social and political dimensions of the technological pipeline – from technology's conception and design to its integration and regulation – become more relevant. Critical Data Studies "advocates the view that Big Data should be seen as always-already constituted within wider data assemblages" (Iliadis and Russo 2016).
We welcome MA theses that analyze how different aspects of social life are being increasingly governed with algorithm-based tools, and that interpret the political and security implications of those practices.
