Monday 17 November

• Human rights and policy organizations criticized the continued failure to count victims of South Sudan’s conflict – in particular the number of war dead – calling it a ‘scandal’ and ‘dishonor.’
• Uganda’s president, Yoweri Museveni, hosted reconciliation talks in Kampala, with South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir, and the SPLM-G10, led by John Garang’s widow, Rebecca Nyandeng.
• Several IDPs and three UNMISS peacekeepers were injured after clashes broke out at UN Protection of Civilians (PoC) site in Malaka in Upper Nile state.

Tuesday 18 November

• UNHCR started relocating 15,000 stranded South Sudanese refugees, from a way station in western Ethiopia to Pugnido Refugee Camp, some 300 kilometres away.
• The SPLA-IO and SPLA-Juba factions have reportedly decided on a phased withdrawal of Ugandan troops from South Sudanese territory during an IGAD workshop in Addis Ababa.

Wednesday 19 November

• South Sudan’s minister for petroleum and mining dismissed reports of an oil leak in severely damaged fields in Unity state.

Thursday 20 November

• UNMISS chief, Ellen Loej, said in an interview Radio Miraya, that UNMISS is making every effort to uphold the security in the Protection of Civilians sites on its bases across the country.

Friday 21 November

• South Sudan’s peace talks -expected to resume on 24 November, have been postponed to allow the SPLM-IO to discuss the ongoing negotiations at a party conference in Pagak.

Saturday 22 November

• The government of Egypt and South Sudan signed an agreement on technical and developmental cooperation in managing water resources during president Salva Kiir’s visit to Cairo.

Sunday 23 November

• The joint committee tasked with demarcating Sudan and South Sudan’s border concluded ‘successful’ meetings in Addis Ababa, and agreed to meet again in Khartoum on 7 December.
