A seminar on ‘People and Policies in Pastoral Areas of China and Norway’ was organized on 1 October in Kautokeino, co-hosted by the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry. The 'Pastoralism in China' project received a delegation of researchers from the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in September/October 2008. The visit included a fieldtrip to Karasjok and Kautokeino in Finnmark, facilitating communication with Sami researchers as well as introducing the Chinese researchers to Sami cultural and political institutions and organizations such as the Sami Parliament, Sami University College, World Reindeer Herders Association, and the Resource Centre for the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Galdu).
