A central player on the Pakistani public scene, Muhammed Ali Saif is a seasoned social activist, political analyst and lecturer who undoubtedly will provide an interesting perspective on the situation in Afghanistan.

People, politics and religion have for long been intertwined in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Today, both countries are marked by political instability and increasing conflict. An understanding of the relationship between the two countries is paramount to comprehend the current political situation and the wider conflict in the two countries and beyond.

Muhammed Ali Saif is an Islamabad based lawyer with a PhD in Islamic and Human Rights Law. Saif is a member of the Pakistani Human Rights Commission and Chairman of the political organization Pasdar-e-Pakistan. He is the advisor to former President Pervez Musharaf (2007 – to date), has held the position of Federal Minister for Youth Affairs and Tourism (2007/2008) and served as Advisor to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Women’s Development (2006 - 2008). Saif has years of experience as a consultant to the Government of Pakistan, the UN and a number of foreign missions in Pakistan
