The second 2013 issue of the GPS Update features an interview with Hilde Klemetsdal, Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Norway to the UN, about the 57th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). Hilde Klemetsdal participated in the negotiations on behalf of the Norwegian Government, and gives a very interesting account of the atmosphere and debates at this year’s CSW.
This issue also features reports on the newly appointed UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region of Africa Mary Robinson, a Wilton Park Conference on Women in Peacebuilding, and the UN Security Council Open Debate on Sexual Violence in Conflict which took place on 17 April 2013. As usual, the GPS update also features reports on relevant seminars, reports and policy briefs, as well as a list of new publications which might be of interest to our readership.
