Dorothea Hilhorst has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant for her project "Humanitarian governance: accountability, advocacy, alternatives".
Hilhorst is a Professor of Humanitarian Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University in The Hague and a PRIO Global Fellow.

Dorothea Hilhorst is Professor of Humanitarian Aid & Reconstruction at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam, and part-time at Wageningen University. Hilhorst's research interests concern aid–society relations and development aspects of disasters, conflict and humanitarian aid, and the interactions between them. In 2016 she was appointed a PRIO Global Fellow.
