The aim of this project is to contribute to a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges related to peacebuilding in Afghanistan, informing decisionmaking as well as the general public internationally, in the region, and within Afghanistan.
Kristian Harpviken has in collaboration with CMI researchers Arne Strand and Astri Suhrke written a report on peace-building strategies for Afghanistan, comissioned by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The project is conducted in collaboration with Christian Michelsen Institute.
PRIO/CMI Policy Brief: Iran, which has patiently hosted a large Afghan refugee population for some time, has been preparing to adjust its refugee policy in line with post-Taliban developments within Afghanistan. The new Iranian policy entails difficult political choices for the host government and possibly painful consequences for the Afghans in Iran.
