This new project is being developed within the gender portfolio at PCC, strengthening even further the Centre's emerging reputation as an actor in the area of Women, Peace, and Security. The project draws on insights of previous work on gender and citizenship, which established widely-circulated guidelines produced by the Gender Advisory Team with the support of PCC in the form of recommendations to the negotiators in 2012 and 2014. These guidelines have brought to the forefront the relationship between concepts about citizenship and its link to family law and the formal and informal structures that define the domestic domain in Cyprus. The aim of this new project is twofold:

  1. To examine and delineate these linkages concretely through research and reports
  2. To raise awareness and support for a framework that would ensure that the eventual agreement on the Cyprus issue does not undermine gender equality for the sake of exclusionary citizenship arrangements.
