The chapter discusses ways by which Vietnam and China could seek inspiration from their successful treaty on the land border (1999) and their agreement on the delimitation of the Tonkin Gulf (2000) and also negotiate their maritime boundary in the main part of the South China Sea, or at least take some moderate steps to facilitate a future solution.
