Research Communication and Policy Impact

Conference paper

Berry, Georgina (2024) Research Communication and Policy Impact, presented at University of Oslo Gender, Peace and Conflict Course, PRIO, 4 October 2023.

Research communication is the process of interpreting or translating complex research findings into a language, format and context fitted for a wide range of audiences and beneficiaries. PRIO research is communicated and discussed in different ways, within very different contexts and to and between different audiences, including policy communities.

This introduction will focus on the various ways and methods PRIO research is communicated, including in the media, through blog posts, PRIO's Peace in a Pod podcast and PRIO Policy Briefs.

How can research communication impact policy making? Special emphasis will be put on how to approach writing a policy brief.

MA-level lecture for the MA students of the Centre for Gender Research (Senter for tverrfaglig kjønnsforskning) at the University of Oslo, in collaboration with the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security (PRIO GPS Centre).
