The maritime disputes between China and Vietnam are difficult but could be resolved on the basis of international law.

This book chapter argues that Vietnam and China could resolve their maritime boundary disputes in the South China Sea and thus set a precedent for peaceful conflict resolution on the basis of the Law of the Sea. The chapter shows how this could be done.
