Under what conditions do initial moves by pioneer migrants to Europe result in rapidly expanding network migration and the formation of migration systems? The THEMIS project addresses this question theoretically based on an empirical study of different migrant groups in Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and the Netherlands. THEMIS is funded by the NORFACE research program on Migration in Europe, and coordinated by the University of Oxford.

The presentation will be by Cindy Horst, Jørgen Carling and Rojan Ezzati.
