Israel, Palestine, and the Future of Regional Diplomacy: From Humanitarian Emergency to a Credible Political Horizon
As part of the Cyprus Forum 2026, Harry Tzimitras, Director of the PRIO Cyprus Centre, will moderate a panel discussion on the future of regional diplomacy in the context of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
The discussion will explore how regional diplomacy is repeatedly pulled back into crisis management. New security and connectivity architectures, including initiatives presented through the Board of Peace, cannot be assessed separately from humanitarian protection, Palestinian political agency, security guarantees, and a credible political horizon.
Drawing on perspectives from Palestinian diplomacy, Arab-American engagement, Israeli and regional peacebuilding, European-Mediterranean diplomacy, and Cyprus-based regional analysis, the panel will examine whether new regional frameworks can support an inclusive and lasting peace or whether they risk merely managing instability.
