Time: Monday, 13 April 2015 13:00-15:00
Place: PRIO, Hausmanns gate 7, Oslo

Fifteen years after the passage of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, women continue to face barriers to becoming full partners with men in making decisions about war and peace. Among the most powerful tools to overcome these hurdles are national action plans — coordinated government and civil society road maps to achieve and sustain peace. To date, 49 countries have adopted these action plans.

Ambassador Swanee Hunt, Chair of the Institute for Inclusive Security, will discuss the importance of these plans as well as lessons learned from maximizing their impact.

Miki Jacevic, Vice Chair of the Institute for Inclusive Security, will also speak from his deep experience working with women (and men) in civil society and government in countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Colombia and Liberia.

Moderator: Senior Researcher Torunn L. Tryggestad, PRIO
