On October 29, PRIO Research Director Louise Olsson welcomed representatives from the Swedish Gender Equality Agency for an inspiring exchange of knowledge and experiences between Norway and Sweden.

The Swedish Gender Equality Agency shared insights on how to drive effective implementation in Sweden and highlighted the value of working closely with researchers to achieve lasting impact. In turn, Louise Olsson showcased PRIO’s pioneering research on gender equality in peace and conflict—an area to which the institute has contributed since the 1980s.

Discussions explored pressing topics such as Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in total defence and societal preparedness across the Nordic region. Participants also learned about EMPOW, PRIO’s newly launched project on Women’s Empowerment in Peace Processes, which seeks to deepen understanding of how women’s empowerment shapes post-war development.

The meeting offered a valuable opportunity to explore synergies between policy and research and to discuss future avenues for collaboration.
