Beyond the University: Training Researchers to Address the Problems of the New Millennium

Led by Lynn P. Nygaard
Jul 2011 -

PhD project at the University of London, Institute for Education. Supervisor: Dr. Lesley Jane Gourlay

The overarching research question of this project is:  How can we better prepare researchers to function in an international, interdisciplinary problem-solving research environment?

The research will cover three main aspects: (1) identifying factors that can explain why some scholars thrive[1]  better than others in an international, interdisciplinary, problem-solving research environment, (2) incorporating lessons learned to improve the design of the PRIO research school (training program for PhD students in the field of peace and conflict), and (3) incorporating lessons learned to improve the provision of ongoing training for researchers at all levels at PRIO.
