This event is part of PRIO's European Security Week and is organized by the CENTREPEACE project.
In 2026, the European security landscape is marked by the prospect of rearmament, a challenging threat scenario, hybrid warfare activity, and increasing financing to military R&D, all this under a shifting transatlantic relationship and rapid technological transformation. While security and military topics have risen in the media and political agenda, some critical arguments and alternative ways of thinking have been sidelined at the expense and more mainstream militaristic voices. This panel gathers Oslo-based researchers whose work has used critical approaches to security studies, legal studies, and science and technology studies, widely considered. The discussion aims at expanding the contours of the debate of how to navigate the contemporary international security situation.
