PRIO invites applications for a temporary Senior Researcher position (6–18 months starting between 1 March and 1 July 2014) in association with the Conceptualization and Measurement of Democracy (CMD) and Political Institutions and Armed Conflict projects led by Håvard Hegre. Successful applicants will be in residence at PRIO’s offices in Oslo.

The projects study how armed conflicts are related to democracy and processes of democratization. Methodologically, the predominant approach is to employ statistical models to analyze data for a range of countries. The projects have a special interest in forecasting of political events, and the use of such forecasting to validate the statistical models. The projects are described in detail at the project pages (see left-hand column).
The applicants are invited to present a 1-2 page proposal for the research to be conducted as part of the project.
Academic qualifications for the position include:
- A PhD within the relevant sub-fields of the projects.
- A scientific publication record within the relevant sub-fields of the projects.
