Senior Researcher Louise Olsson contributed with a research perspective in a debate on Women, Peace and Security in Berlin organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Germany is currently an elected member of the UN Security Council where it seeks to promote the implementation of WPS. In 2020, Germany will also start the process to renew its National Action Plan on WPS. Olsson’s input focused on the need for moving toward a more nuanced understanding of women as political actors, a better connection being made between protection and participation, and the importance of improved research-policy collaboration in the collection and analysis of data post-2020 to strengthen implementation. Panelists included Mr. Niels Annen, Minister of State at the Foreign Office, Dr. Monika Hauser, founder and executive board member of medica mondial, and Ms. Kristina Lunz, co-founder and director of the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy (CFFP). Ms. Ute Lange moderated the session.
