Hilde Wallacher left PRIO in 2012. The information on this page is kept for historical reasons.
I am currently employed as a researcher associated with several different projects.
I work with several projects related to international arms trade, and have published a number of reports on Norwegian arms transfer regulations, the Arms Trade Treaty process, and different aspects of the international arms trade and how it is and can be regulated. I am particularly interested in the relationship between arms trade issues and human rights.
I also work with the PRIO Gender team, primarily as the editor of the quarterly PRIO Gender, Peace and Security Newsletter, which can be found at http://www.prio.no/Research-and-Publications/Gender/Newsletter/
I am generally interested in international norm development, especially developments in international law. I am also very interested in gender studies and in studies of humanitarianism.

We are happy to share with you the January-february issue of the PRIO Gender, Peace and Security Update. The headline story of this issue is the new strategic plan on Women Peace and Security launched by the Norwegian MFA.
PRIO researcher Hilde Wallacher has written a report on Norwegian arms trade, which will be presented 23 February.
The report gives policy advice to the Norwegian government on the implementation of end use control for NATO allies.
The report is commissioned by the Norwegian Church Aid, Changemaker and the Forum for Environment and Development.
The Norwegian Initiative on Small Arms Transfers (NISAT) project at PRIO is currently looking for a talented individual to fill the position of either Researcher or Research Assistant within the project.
Hilde Wallacher of the AMAC project at PRIO has published a Policy Brief on the key aspects of gender mainstreaming in mine action. The brief is based on a field study in Cambodia.
PRIO organized the conference ‘Remittances, Integration and Development: The Debate Explored’. The aim of the conference was to explore the complex relationships between migrants’ remittance sending patterns, their level of integration and their contributions to development in the country of origin. More than 200 people took part.
Selected findings will be presented by the authors. The report will be delivered to Minister of International Development Erik Solheim, who will comment on it in relation to Norwegian policy. After the end of the official programme at 14:00, there will be an opportunity to stay on for informal conversations or questions.
