Jenny Lorentzen is a Doctoral Researcher at PRIO/Lund University and co-editor of the PRIO Gender, Peace and Security Update newsletter.

My PhD project is about peacebuilding and diffusion of gender equality norms in Rwanda. The focus is on the processes that are taking place at a national and local level and on the actors in this context. Diffusion is often conceived of as a top-down process. This study takes the local as its starting point, and the agency of local actors and different forms of friction in the diffusion process as well as the relationship between the local and the global, will be of specific interest.
