Interests and experience

Since September 2007 engaged as researcher on the PRIO project 'Conflict Prevention in a DDR Context in Haiti'.

The project is financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This project has its focus on local capacities for the prevention of violence in Haiti. The objective is to identify models of conflict prevention rooted in Haitian traditions or adaptable to the Haitian context, currently dominated by a large international demobilization, disarmament and reintegration (DDR)operation.

Dr. Rachelle Doucet holds a PhD in Anthropology from New York University. She is currently working as an independent consultant in Port-au-Prince, but is linked to le Centre d'Études sur le Développement des Cultures et des Sociétés (CEDCS), University of Quisqueya, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on project to project basis. Doucet has been engaged in various research projects with PRIO since 2004.

Dr. Doucet speaks French, English, Spanish and Creole fluently.
