Background

​​​​​Birkvad is currently working on the SOURCE Societal Security project, researching the relationship between ethics and extremism. Birkvad has conducted coding and interview analysis for the Active Citizenship in Culturally and Religiously Diverse Societies (ACT) project.

She teaches seminars for the BA level course REL2220: Hinduisme i Fortid og Nåtid at the University of Oslo.

She coordinates PRIO's International Summer School.​

Ida Roland Birkvad holds a MSc in Comparative Political Thought from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London​​. 

She also holds a BA in Hindi from the University of Oslo (UiO) and a BA in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen (UiB).
