Background

Birkvad is currently working on the FINEX - Financial Exclusion, Islamic Finance and housing in the Nordic Countries project.

She has previously worked on the SOURCE Societal Security project, researching the relationship between ethics and extremism. Birkvad has conducted coding and interview analysis for the Active Citizenship in Culturally and Religiously Diverse Societies (ACT) project. She has also worked on various projects related to South Asia at PRIO.

In the fall of 2017 Birkvad taught seminars for the BA level course REL2220: Hindu Religion and Politics at the University of Oslo.

She coordinates PRIO's International Summer School.​

Ida Roland Birkvad holds a MSc in Comparative Political Thought from SOAS, University of London​​. 

She also holds a BA in Hindi from the University of Oslo (UiO) and a BA in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen (UiB).
