The Research Council of Norway (Norges forskningsråd) is a Norwegian government agency that funds basic and applied research and innovation projects (approx. NOK 12 billion annually). It is PRIO's largest funder of research projects. The RCN is also responsible for the strategic planning of the institute sector, and PRIO is one of 33 Norwegian research institutes that receives basic core funding, disbursed by the RCN.
