In August, PRIO Senior Researcher Louise Olsson contributed to a seminar for senior leaders in the Norwegian Navy. Her contribution focused on how gender equality relates to defence capability, resilience, and societal security within the framework of total defence.
During her presentation, Olsson also discussed organizational and professional factors that can help military institutions address de facto gender equality challenges more systematically. Such approaches, she noted, could assist in finding more sustainable and lasting results and represent an area where close collaboration between the military and researchers is highly beneficial.
The seminar also featured a panel discussion with senior researchers and the Chief of the Norwegian Navy, moderated by the Navy’s Chief Master Officer, which provided Olsson with an opportunity to discuss and learn more about current debates and progress in the maritime domain.
