The Norwegian Centre for International Economics (NORCIE) brings together researchers from the Department of Economics and ARENA, University of Oslo, Christian Michelsen’s Institute, and the Peace Research Institute Oslo. They are joined by researchers from a multitude of international institutions, including Stanford University, Oxford University, Imperial College, London, the European University Institute, the Indian Statistical Institute, Universidad de los Andes, and the South African Institute of International Affairs.
The main aim is to strengthen Norway’s capacity to respond to major transformations and policy shifts in the international economy. NORCIE is an interdisciplinary centre, rooted in economics, political science, and geography. Its research is organized across five thematic pillars addressing structural changes and policy shifts:
- Geopolitical Rivalry and Strategic Policy (led by PRIO's Simon Reid-Henry),
- Climate Change and International Economic Interdependencies,
- Disruptions to the International Economy,
- International Economic Governance,
- Development and De-globalization.
