The first 2014 issue of the GPS Update features a report from a seminar at PRIO with Betty Bigombe, former chief mediator in the conflict between the Lord's resistance Army (LRA) and the government of Uganda.

This issue also features reports from other recent events at PRIO and internationally, including; PRIO Researchers visit to project partner in DR Congo, a PhD course on Gender, Peace and Security organized by PRIO Researchers Inger Skjelsbæk and Torunn L. Tryggestad, a book launch of a new book on gender in the armed forces, a seminar at PRIO on transitional justice in Colombia, and a seminar that took place in Brasilia on Women, Peace and Security in Brazil.

As usual, the GPS Update also gives you an update on relevant seminars, reports and policy briefs, as well as a list of publications which might be of interest to our readership.

The PRIO Gender, Peace and Security Update is an electronic newsletter launched by PRIO’s Gender Research Group in response to growing interest among the public for information about women, peace and security issues. The newsletter will keep readers informed of the latest developments both internationally and in Norway in relation to UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security and subsequent resolutions.
